135 pc. Prestige Distinction Silverplate Silverware Flatware Set with Chest NICE
Because this set is very heavy I have provided some options. This is a 9-place setting (plus LOTS of extras) silverware set by be Prestige in the Distinction pattern. There are a total of 135 pieces, plus the chest and paperwork. There are 9 each of the following (with the approximate length of each shown in parentheses). Dinner forks (7.75); dessert forks, I guess (7.5); salad forks (6.5); cocktail forks (6); iced tea spoons (7.5); soup spoons (6.25); demitasse spoons (4.5); larger or regular size table knives (9.25); smaller or luncheon size table knives (8.75); and, individual butter knives (6.25).
Then there are a total of 18 teaspoons (6 1/8); 6 serving spoons (8.25); 1 meat fork; 1 sugar or jam spoon; 1 ladle; 1 tomato server; 1 master butter knife; 1 cake or pastry server; 1 cake or pastry cutter; a carving set (knife, fork and sharpener, with cloth holder); and, salad utensils fork and spoon (wooden with metal handle). (Sorry if I dont have the exact names of some of these pieces correct, but I think you can see what I mean). The wooden chest with dovetail joints is very nice and solid with some scratches, but certainly not bad at all. It also comes with some paperwork that was found with the chest, including the original sales receipts from the early 1950s, a Prestige pamphlet, guarantee, etc. The silverware is in great structural condition with no bends, garbage disposal chew marks, etc.
The pieces do have scratches from typical use over the years commensurate with age, but I do not see any brassing where the silver has worn down to the base metal on any of the pieces this is a used but still nice set that has been well cared for over the years and it still has LOTS of life left in it. It doesnt matter to me one way or the other, but I did want to give you the option. If you don't live in Kansas, you can go ahead and pay or wait for my invoice, whichever you want.In most cases I will send you an invoice within an hour of the time the sale ends.
