Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. French Antique Art Deco Boxed 37-piece Utensils Set.

Called a ménagère in France, this 37 piece set of flatware was the typical wedding or anniversary present a tradition formalized in the mid XIXth Century. It consists of a large ladle, 12 dinner forks, 12 soup spoons and 12 smaller spoons. Knives were never offered as a gift and no antique ménagère includes them because they were symbolically incompatible with the ties of friendship or family relationships that united the giver to the receiver of the gift. This one was created by the famous French silversmith Ercuis in the 1920s and has 12 heavily silverplated forks, soup spoons and small spoons plus a large, elegant ladle. Each piece has is decorated in a fluted arrow pattern on both sides of the handle, a sign of quality manufacturing. Each of the 37 pieces is hallmarked and stamped and are in overall very good condition, with faint traces of surface wear, so minimal that the majority of pieces look unused. The soup spoons measure 8 inches (20.6 cms), forks are 8 1/8 inches (20.7 cms), smalls spoons are 5 ¼ inches (13.6 cms) and the beautiful ladle is 12 ½ inches long. They come in their original brown felt lined storage boxes.

It is a beautiful set, very sleek-lined Deco styling in very good condition and weighs altogether a solid 6 lbs. Vintage and antique objects have lived and been used and because of that, they sometimes show it. The condition of the object is described as accurately as possible, including its character flaws.

But that is really part of the attraction and enjoyment of an old piece. Please verify the package upon receipt and inform the postal authorities of any damage. The item must be sent back in the original condition it was received and in the same packaging.
