1865 Rogers Smith & Co. Meriden Victorian Aesthetic Rococo Tea Coffee Set
1865 ROGERS SMITH & CO. MERIDEN VICTORIAN AESTHETIC ROCOCO TEA COFFEE SET. Organized in 1857 by William Rogers Sr. The firm was merged in 1861 with Rogers Brothers Mfg Co under the presidency of William Rogers. The tools and the dies were bought in 1862 by Meriden Britannia Co transferring to Meriden the production of the 1847 Rogers Bros line under the direction of William Rogers. In 1863 Meriden Britannia Co bought the hollowware division. In 1865 the plating shop was transferred from New Haven to Meriden and merged with Meriden Britannia Co in 1866.
Early aesthetic, set in good to very good conditions showing overall bright mirrored plating, no dents or monogram, there is no breaks or repairs, strong firm hinges, and complete insulators some signs of wear and use as pictured, the inside of both pots and slop bowl shows tear and wear, white metal base, perfect as display. Coffee pot 9 1/4" by 8 1/2" shy 2.9 lbs weight, Teapot 7" by 8 1/4", 1.8 lbs weight, sugar bowl/no lid, creamer and slop bowl.
