This is a wonderful older set of Gorham Silverplate flatware in the Vanity Fair Pattern. The Vanity Fair pattern was patented by the company in 1923, and initially produced/presented in 1924. Gorham was and still is one of the finest U.
This set is exceptionally well made and has done a fabulous job of standing up to the test of time. It presents in very good to excellent condition with just some very minor scratches from light use. Otherwise, despite its great age, it is free of flaws or defects. All the pieces feature an old world monogram of the the letter N, and the knives feature French hollow handles. There are 47 pieces to this set which serves 8, of which 7 are serving pieces. The 47 pieces breakdown as follows: 8 dinner knives, 8 butter knives, 8 teaspoons, 8 soup spoons, 8 dinner forks, 3 large serving spoons, 1 sugar spoon, 1 master butter knife, 1 meat fork, and 1 ladle. As far as the box is concerned, it also is in very good condition with some minor wear to the outer wood. Otherwise, the inside looks very good with no flaws to report.Including the wood flatware box, the total weight of the set is 11 pounds.
