Each of these place settings comprises of 5 individual pieces for a grand total of 30 individual pieces in this wonderful set. Christofles CLUNY pattern was created in 1962 as a synergy between the physical and the spiritual and describes a certain attitude towards food: essential to nourish God's creatures but not to be indulged to excess. Located in the wine region of Burgundy, town of Cluny is known for its Benedictine Abbey which was built in the early 10th century. It was the largest monument of its size for its time and was conceived with complete austerity and sobriety in mind. Likewise the flatware which bears its name is void of any superfluous decoration.
Not unlike the Chinon pattern, the shape is called "fiddle back" as it follows the contours of a violin. Purely Louis XIV in style, CLUNY will be at home in minimalist architecture as well as act as a perfect contrast to very ornate china and elaborately-cut stemware. Each item in this set is fully hallmarked with Christofle hallmarks. 6 Dinner Knives - 9 3/4 inches (24.5 cm).
6 Dinner Forks 8 1/8 inches (20.5 cm). 6 Dinner Spoons 7 1/2 inches (19 cm). 6 Salad Forks - 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm). 6 Teaspoons - 6 inches (15.5 cm). This set is in Very Good used condition and it comes with signs of normal usage in light surface scratches, and few pin-head spots to the blades, on one of the large spoons theres a deeper scratch on the back of the bowl, otherwise this set has nothing that cant be polished away.
The knives blades are in very good condition. The items have very good shine and display beautifully. Please review the photos and write me if you need more details.
