Wallace with Hallmark 1835 - R. 1902 design by Henrik Hillbom. In the "Floral" Pattern which was first introduced in 1902 (Not 1835). The design is one of entwined plants and flowers that was typical of the Art Nouveau Style.
There is NO monogram on any of the pieces. (The early advertisement shown in the photos is NOT included). This carving set is impressive and makes a great display at the table during the Holiday season. The knife is 14.5'' from end-to-end with a blade of about 9''. The set is in excellent condition for its age. There is some wear/ tarnish on the prongs of the fork (see photo). The design was by Henrik Hillbom who was a Swedish-American Artist. From Wikipedia (translated - apologies for poor English). 1948, Hartford, Connecticut was a Swedish-American artist. After that, for a period until 1888 he was employed by Whitney Manufactor Co.He continued his art studies in Paris under Benjamin Constant and Jules Joseph Lefebvre and was subsequently employed as a cartoonist and illustrator for Black & White in London. From 1899 and for the following decade, he was employed as the first model designer at Wallace Company's silverware factory in Walingford, Connecticut. Hillbom is represented with a number of model drawings for silver works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and with the Winter Woodstock oil painting at Småland Museum in Växjö.
