100% Authentic Christofle, bears Christofle hallmarks. French Silver-maker Christofle is an enduring symbol of luxury, elegance and prestige in the art of silver. This item belongs to the popular Christofle Cluny silverplate collection. Christofles CLUNY pattern was created in 1962 as a synergy between the physical and the spiritual and describes a certain attitude towards food: essential to nourish God's creatures but not to be indulged to excess. Located in the wine region of Burgundy, town of Cluny is known for its Benedictine Abbey which was built in the early 10th century. It was the largest monument of its size for its time and was conceived with complete austerity and sobriety in mind. Likewise the flatware which bears its name is void of any superfluous decoration. Not unlike the Chinon pattern, the shape is called "fiddle back" as it follows the contours of a violin.
