Vintage Danish Stjerne Silver Plate Cutlery set for 12. Beautiful set is in very good condition. There are 12 dinner knives made by Conval with composite cream coloured handles and stainless steel blades, 215mm long, 12 dinner forks 190, 12 dinner or Continental soup spoons 195mm, 12 dessert spoons, 176mm, 12 teaspoons 118mm long, a large serving spoon, a cake server, a sauce or gravy ladle, a cream spoon, 2 jam spoons and 5 small meat forks. The knives came with the set and suit it well.
The pieces are in the pattern called Stjerne by famous Danish designer Jens Harald Qusitgaard which features a stylish cross hatch design with traditional horizontal banding to the necks. The shape is quite flat and gently bowed to the centre of the handles. Each piece is marked with the maker Finn Christensen's distinctive stamp, Prima, for first qualirty silver pate, and the initials JHQ for the designer. The silver plating to the pieces is bright, reflective and shiny. There is no flaking, corrosion or pitting to the silver plating.
The back of the fork tines show a small amount of wear and there is a small amount of silver loss to the neck of the large spoon only. The knives are clean and the handles well seated with no movement or corrosion. This is a beautiful and stylish designer setting made to last for many years to come. For Imperial measurement users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
