Vintage Dansk Fjord Flatware Teak Germany SERVICE FOR 12 /110 pieces CARVING SET
On a trip to Europe in 1954, Americans Martha and Ted Nierenberg went in search of a product to manufacture and produce for a U. During a visit to the Museum of Arts and Crafts Kunstindustrimuseet (today the Danish Museum of Art & Design Designmuseum Danmark) in Copenhagen, they saw a unique set of cutlery on display that combined teak and stainless steel, created by artist-designer Jens Quistgaard. The Nierenbergs tracked down Quistgaard and spoke with him in an effort to convince him to manufacture the cutlery. At first, Quistgaard insisted that the pieces could only be forged by hand, one piece at a time, but Nierenberg was able to convince him they could be mass-produced, leading to Dansk Designs' first product, Fjord flatware, which has been one of the brand's enduring bestsellers. This set is from the 50s-60s and is a mix of Early pre-duck markings and 4 duck markings all MADE IN GERMANY period. 1 Large Carving Knife - 182. I have never seen a finer complete service for such a large number of people. This is truly one of the nicest place settings I've ever had the pleasure to pass on to a new owner and hate to see it go but it will be the perfect new flatware to showcase in your Mid-century modern home. I spent a good bit of time applying a fresh coating of beeswax to the handles and inspecting everything to make sure there aren't any major issues.
Some of the pieces have the a very tiny bit of separation between the stainless and Teak and some have some of that white residue that seems to show up on the plugs. One cheese knife has a rougher handle than the other like the wood might have dried out a bit more and exposed the grain ends more.
